A little story about how we made this...

HIGH LINER

Since 1899

THE CHALLENGE

This was OSR in its element – where jaw-dropping locations, intricate set builds, bold graphic transitions, and heartfelt human beats collide with deliciously tricky tech challenges. The brief? Simple on paper: one seamless camera move that zips through time, tracing High Liner’s journey from sea to kitchen to table. The reality? Snowbound Lunenburg, Nova Scotia in peak tourist mode, jammed with modern distractions – meaning our 1899 harbour would need to be rebuilt from scratch. Armed with satellite data, historical photos, and Unreal wizardry, we crafted a photo-real virtual set, paired it with meticulous period wardrobe and set design, and staged three distinct eras… all captured in a single, relentless shoot day. What started as “just one shot” became a full-blown cinematic voyage.

the process

Over six fast-paced weeks, OSR and Director Jesse Blight teamed up with Milestone Integrated Marketing and the virtual production wizards at Pixomondo to bring three richly detailed worlds to life: an 1899 Lunenburg harbour, High Liner’s sleek “Innovative Kitchen,” and a warm, modern-day family home. Using satellite imagery and historic photos, the team built a photo-real harbour in Unreal, fine-tuning every detail—from lighting and framing to camera moves and colour—long before stepping on set. That prep paid off, allowing them to shoot all three locations in a single soundstage day with seamless set swaps, thanks to the precision of Set Designers Nuala O’Flynn and Aaron Smith and the period-perfect styling of Lee-Ann Baxter.

Cinematographer Vinit Borrison and Jesse then stitched it all together into one fluid camera move, flowing from moody, cinematic harbour to industrial heat to the glow of home—blending history, technology, and pure visual magic.

The final outcome created a seamless transition through the history of High Liner's humble beginning back in. 1899 into today's modern family home. The final content played across broadcast and social nation wide. It was an honour to tell the story of High Liner using cutting edge virtual technology paired with a top end team of production specialist, bringing this wonderful creative to life.
