THE CHALLENGE
When VML approached us with this important campaign, we were both honored and ready for the challenge of bringing the message to life on a non-profit budget. The original ask was for the word “TRANS” to be projected on a white cyc, but as soon as we brought OSR director Sean McLeod on board, he had the idea to involve our friends at SP Studios so we could roll up our sleeves together.

the process
The only way to achieve these high-impact results was to bring Sean McLeod in early, as soon as the script was approved. With his offline background and can-do attitude, Sean created all the visuals for our virtual set, working seamlessly with the team at SP Studios. On top of spending hours preparing for the shoot day, he crafted the engaging in-camera “VFX” visuals that come through in the final three spots.

In camera effects and dynamic camera movement were paramount to crafting these intimate portraits of all our three hero's who shared their stories for the camera.

We managed to capture three 30-second spots plus various cutdowns, as well as an OOH campaign—all in one heartwarming day’s work. More like 30 heartwarming days for Sean, who stepped in to edit the spots and made sure we got the most bang for our buck from the production day. The campaign went on to earn three Cannes Lion shortlists in 2025.
